SUMMARY:Wild LIVE: Mud matters - how do we protect our blue carbon stores in UK seabeds?
DESCRIPTION:Hidden beneath the waves surrounding the UK lies a vast\, unsung carbon store: our muddy seabeds. These underwater landscapes hold an astonishing 240 million tonnes of organic carbon in just in the top 10cm of sediment\, and are vital for marine wildlife! \nBut these valuable carbon stores are being impacted by human activities like dredging and inappropriate development. What can we\, and what must we do\, to protect these essential stores of carbon in our seas\, for our climate and our wildlife? \nJoin The Wildlife Trust at 18:30pm on 28th October to find out more.

SUMMARY:Join us for March's Wild LIVE(s!)
DESCRIPTION:On Tuesday 18th March 6 -7:30pm\, we’ll be broadcasting our next episode of Wild LIVE to The Wildlife Trusts’ YouTube channel. Our expert panel will explore the critical question: could nature be our best flood defence? \nThis event is taking place at The University of Hull so if you’re in Yorkshire why not join us in person? \nFlood risk is expected to at least double by 2050\, with 5.2 million properties in England already at risk. The UK Government committed to doubling the number of flood management projects\, including nature-based solutions. The Environment Agency estimates that this means around 260 Natural Flood Management projects need to be implemented in England between 2021 and 2027.
