SUMMARY:‘How to Run a Swish’ online training session

Swishes (clothes swap parties) have become a real ‘thing’ in Cambridgeshire with the number of swishes organised by schools\, colleges\, community groups\,  companies and other organisations increasing threefold in 2023! These events are fun for the community but also help tackle the very serious impact that clothing and textiles are having on climate\, waste and pollution. \nCCF has a swish kit that is free for any group to borrow and contains pretty much everything you need to run an event.  It’s stored at their offices near Cambridge North. For more details\, please see our swishing webpage. \nTo join this training please email: nicole@cambridgecarbonfootprint.org with your name\, email\, location and the name of any organisation that you might be representing. Please ask a friend or colleague to register for the training too as getting a few people on board really helps.

SUMMARY:Jonathon Porritt: 'Love Anger & Betrayal'. Speaker Tour\, Cambridge
DESCRIPTION:Jonathon Porritt\, veteran climate campaigner\, advisor and writer\, has consistently highlighted the environmental crisis and its threat to social and ecological justice – over 50 years of constantly looking for solutions. \nHis newly published\, eleventh book\, ‘Love\, Anger & Betrayal’\, visits the latest generation of climate activists and documents the experiences of 26 insightful young people – his co-authors – who joined Just Stop Oil’s Nonviolent Civil Resistance. The book reveals their passion for a just and sustainable transition away from our global economic and cultural dependence on fossil fuels. But who\, with the political power\, is listening? \nFor more than fifty years Jonathon Porritt has been campaigning for the environment and social justice\, while simultaneously advising governments\, businesses and NGOs. The author of many highly respected books\, he still believes that it is ‘not too late’ to avoid climate breakdown. But the thrust of this book\, Love\, Anger & Betrayal\, is that very soon it will be. \nThe evening includes a book signing with the book on sale.

SUMMARY:Cambridge Carbon Footprint: How to Run A Swish
DESCRIPTION:This short online training will give you all the information you need to organise a swish. Swishes (clothes swap parties) have become a real ‘thing’ in Cambridgeshire with the number of swishes organised by schools\, colleges\, community groups\,  companies and other organisations increasing all the time. These events are fun for the community but also help tackle the very serious impact that clothing and textiles are having on climate\, waste and pollution. \nCCF has a swish kit that is free for any group to borrow and contains pretty much everything you need to run an event.

SUMMARY:The Fenland Flora: Survival against the odds
DESCRIPTION:Fenland has all too often been dismissed as boring and with little biodiversity value outside the washes and a few NNRs. The Fenland Flora project\, now ready for publication\, has sought to document the history and present status of wild plants in Fenland\, and has shown the vital importance of the region\, especially for aquatic plants. In addition\, relics of the past Fenland vegetation persist in unlikely places\, and novel habitats support new species and communities. \nPresenter: Owen Mountford (joint coordinator with Jon Graham of the Fenland Flora project).
