DESCRIPTION:  \n  \nSoham’s tenth Repair Café hosted by @Soham Community Association\, @TwilightTuesdayWI – Soham and @Cambridgeshire Libraries – a free event – bring along your broken item\, be it a kettle\, torn jeans or even a smashed phone screen (with a replacement screen of course!) – our experienced repairers will try their best to help give it a new lease of life. \nThere will be plenty of complimentary cake and tea in our pop up café to keep everyone refreshed thanks to the Soham WI. We welcome all items within reason (electronics\, small kitchen appliances\, clothing\, toys\, costume jewellery etc) as long as it can safely sit on a standard table in the library. If you can give us some advance notice on what you might bring and what the problem is then it will help our repairers to be prepared and maybe even advise if you could bring a spare part along to be fitted on the day. Unfortunately we are currently unable to cater for bicycles and outdoor items (e.g. powered garden tools) \nIf you have any queries and potential items to repair then please ask away – we politely request only one item per person to make things fair\, but if we have time and you can join the queue again we will take a look. We ask all repairees to read and sign our repair agreement as we are all volunteers. DESCRIPTION:As part of the “Soham Greener Together” Initiative we will have a talk from Clive Boase from Climate Change Gardening talking about “Climate Change Gardening” Help your garden to thrive and become a haven for wildlife as our climate changes. \n \n‘Climate Change Gardening’ became a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (Registered Charity Number: 1208653) in June 2024. We consist of a group of gardeners that are concerned about climate change. The CIO is based in East Anglia\, and has six trustees. \nThe Charity: – \n\n\n\nRaises awareness of the impact of climate change on gardens.\nEnables gardeners to maintain an enjoyable\, productive and resilient garden\, despite climate change.\nEncourages and empower gardeners to use their gardens to help mitigate both the impacts of climate change\, and climate change itself.\n\n\n\nPrivate gardens are the third largest land use sector in England\, with over 20 million people identifying as gardeners. Whether our gardens are large or small\, through our choices of plants\, cultivation techniques\, composts\, watering\, wild areas\, and many other details\, together we can make an important difference. \nPlease do book a place as seats will be limited. Select the RSVP. \nThis event is organised by East Cambridgeshire Climate Action Network in partnership with Soham Town Council.
