Action for clean air 2025

The findings for the Action for Clean Air (2025) Report have now been published.

The second year of Clean Air Night focused on sparking more productive conversations about these health harms of wood burning, focusing much of our campaigning on London – where the vast majority of people have another way to heat their home and the health impacts of burning can be felt by many people.

Highlights from the second Clean Air Night campaign:

  • 65% campaign awareness ion London, with 992,370 Londoners reached with information about the health harms of wood burning through paid media.
  • 116 media mentions of Clean Air Night, including coverage in The Times, Daily Express, LBC, Yahoo, BBC Radio 5 Live and the Daily Record.
  • 92% of people in the UK who are aware of Clean Air Night support the introduction of at least one measure to tackle air pollution from wood burning in their local area.

Why is this important?

Wood burning produces fine particulate air pollution (PM2.5), which enters your bloodstream when inhaled and can cause heart and lung disease, as well as increasing your risk of diabetes and dementia. Even homes with newer “Ecodesign” wood burners are three times more polluted than those without, putting the health of you and your family at risk. And burning wood doesn’t just pollute your home – it pollutes your local community and harms the health of your neighbours.
